WHAT IS A GENERAL TOOH EXTRACTION?

Many times, a tooth or multiple teeth that have been broken or that have decayed can be corrected with a filling, root canal or a crown. Other times, the damage is so significant that the tooth must be removed. This is called a tooth extraction. A qualified oral and maxillofacial surgeon can ensure the tooth and any fragments are safely removed from the mouth and that
the socket heals efficiently.

Here are some common reasons people have to have a tooth pulled:

● Infection
● Crowding
● Tooth Loosening
● Periodontal Disease

IS IT SAFE TO HAVE MY TOOTH REMOVED?

Before your procedure, Dr. Bryan Bailey and the surgical team of Panhandle Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery will perform an oral exam and take an X-ray of the tooth extraction site. Some factors that we will take into consideration when removing your tooth include:

● Age
● Medical History
● Gum Disease
● Tooth Position

Most tooth extractions can be performed during one visit using a local anesthetic.
